Q. Do I need Internet Explorer to use TTS ?
A. Internet Explorer must be present on the PC (and is built into Windows), but you do not need to run IE in order to use TTS.

Q. How can I change the appearance of the toolbar ?
A. Simply replace the file toolbar.htm with your own file. Note that you can edit toolbar.htm with any HTML editor (or even notepad) and you can add or remove buttons.

Q. What Speech Engine files do I need to have installed on my PC to use Arlington TTS ?

Windows XP Users

1. Please download the XP speech engine by clicking on
this link. The speech engine includes the voices of Mike and Mary which are added to the default XP voice of Sam. The engine is approximately 3.6Mb in size.
2. After the engine file (named XPMikeMary.msi) is downloaded, double-click it to install the engine.
3. After the engine is installed, close this window and start the Arlington Text to Speech software again and you will be taken to the main user screen.


Windows 98, ME, NT and 2000 Users

1. Please download the speech engine by clicking on
this link. The speech engine includes the voices of Mike, Mary and Sam. The engine is approximately 6.3Mb in size.
2. After the engine file (named sapi51.msi) is downloaded, double-click it to install the engine.
3. After the engine is installed, close this window and start the Arlington Text to Speech software again and you will be taken to the main user screen.
